I'd post about europe but seriously i'm a bit drunk for that, with the uploading photos and all that shit

so instead i'll post more festival info cos I'm still getting emails about it

Soundwave 2009 lineup - 3 March 2009 headliners are NIN and Alice in Chains

and Laneway Festival is coming to Perth.

The BDO headliner aside from Neil Young might possibly blow my head off.

VFest & Future Music haven't even been announced yet.

Fatboy Slim is coming to Good Vibes '09 (and possibly Lupe Fiasco?)

All up, if they keep the same 2008 director for the Perth Festival Music Box for 2009, then we are potentially in for extra insane times ahead.

I'm slightly downplaying how excited I am at NIN coming to Perth again.

If they do a side gig I WILL DIE HAPPY.

Hope are all well :)
My nephew Loki is the most adorable kid ever. Also, how can someone so little have so much character already!? He's not even two years old! He's here with his folks til Wednesday, much family fun ahead.

Also, I'm flying to Copenhagen Friday (19th) afternoon, arriving Saturday noon. Hopping to London the following Friday night, and flying back home Sunday noon, getting back in time to just miss Parklife (29th). I can't believe I'm going :D

However, I'm gonna be missing a few birthday parties - Happy Birthday in advance! I know you can read this! Sorry I won't be celebrating with you guys!

Will be looking at having a house-warming at some point soon after I get back though ... hope to make up for it then :D

I've heard the rumours and the rest of their tourdates sort of lineup... unlikely though.
An industry friend reckons Nine Inch Nails is a possibility. I'll believe it when I see it.
Pendulum, Neil Young are pretty much confirmed
Simian Mobile Disco, The Prodigy - all fairly reasonable rumours...
Anyone hear anything else?
I was just sick enough to be sent home from work today. Sorry if I've had to bail on some plans that I made recently :(

On Saturday I saw the act/band Pivot (Australia's first Warp Records' signee) and it was incredible. Imagine 'Battles' and swap some of their instrumental proficiency with electronic glitch mastery. Not counting the times I saw bands that I'd listened to for years, I haven't ever been to a live performance that both hit home & overwhelmed me so instantly/directly.

I have a ticket to see Underworld (@ Summadayze) on the 4th of January '09. It's kind of a while ago but I do remember listening to Born Slippy (Nuxx) on repeat when Trainspotting came out. Then I borrowed Beaucoup Fish on tape from my gf at the time, Endira, and listened to it till it wouldn't play anymore. I smoked my first joint ever watching the Everything, Everything Live DVD when I was living with my brother. I wonder if they'll play a bit of Underneath the Radar haha.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Hives if I go to Southbound '09 (2nd-3rd January). The rest of the first announcement line-up isn't that bad either. The first lineup annoucements of the Summer Festivals are getting me massively amped already. Plus apparently there are at least two new massive festivals being introduced to Perth (Stereosonic & GlobalGathering). There's also the upcoming Sin events & "Brutal October" to look forward to. Oh dear.

I might be going to Europe for a week in September for a management course, with only two weeks confirmation if so. If I do, I want to take a week off and a look around Europe. After just a few minutes googling gigs at around the time I might be there, apparently The Mighty Boosh are doing live shows, Fatboy Slim is doing his Brighton Beach thing (27/9) & also, the DMC World DJ Championships Finals are on. Hell yeah.

I briefly talked to Yasmin Lee last Thursday at Deuce's 1st birthday (free local electronic artist gig night at Velvet Lounge - every first Thursday of the month). She used to sing for Halogen, the Perth band that got me into local Perth music - still my favourite local band of all time. She remembered me, which is awesome and embarassing, since my only contact with her would be when I would go up to her to squeal fanboy-like post-gig and maybe ask her + band to sign stuff. She was always so lovely about it. She told me that she has a new project - She Selexx - which will be playing live soon. When I heard this I felt my heart blossom like a flower full speed.

Ridiculous yet incredibly amazingly skilled at the same time.

Previous post updated :)

we are six billion plus individuals riding this rotating rock as it slowly revolves around some massive ball of fire, surrounded by the seemingly infinite vacuum of space.

sometimes I wonder why this is and various other existential ponderings ad nauseum, literally until I want to puke from sheer frustration, because I am never closer to any meaningful and/or significant answer.

how many human beings have lived and died on this planet and WHY?

sometimes I just think we're just part of some extremely superior being's acid trip, and the absurdity of it all calms me.

i get that we're just probably not meant to understand this... but that just frustrates me even more sometimes.

I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on things like this but I totally understand if no one really wants to get into it on this barely-connected medium of livejournal.

I think I will drive myself mad from this one day.
